Go towards the light. Celebrate your local community and get into the Christmas spirit tonight at the Parkgate Winter Lights event, at Parkgate Community Centre, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. There’ll be a by-donation family meal available, as well as pottery and craft sales, singing, live music, stories with Santa, and much more – including a community tree lighting session slated for 6:30 p.m.

More than 90 members of the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir are slated to perform at Centennial Theatre, backed by Argyle Secondary’s concert choir, tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. The Christmas concert will feature the spectacular union of holiday magic with the Celtic choral tradition. Tickets from $25.

More than 25 artists’ work, ranging from the contemporary to the traditional, will be on display and for sale at the Art in Clay Holiday Pottery Show and Sale at the Gleneagles Golf Course clubhouse tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There’s only joy allowed here – that is, aloud here. In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Pandora’s Vox and Espiritu Vocal Ensemble is hosting a seasonal concert showcase, called Only Joy Aloud, tonight at 8 p.m. and tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Kay Meek Arts Centre in West Vancouver. Tickets: $18-$38

Finally, something for the other children in our lives. Visit the Pet Food ‘N More store at Park & Tilford in North Vancouver for pet pictures with Santa, tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All photos of Santa with your favourite four-legged friends are by-donation, with all proceeds earmarked to support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.
