Richmond’s Community Mental Wellness Association of Canada (CMWAC) held an online karaoke fundraiser over the weekend, raising $2,000 to support those who suffer from mental illness.

Ahlay Chin, founder of CMWAC, said the funds will help provide free counselling.

The fundraiser and karaoke event – which doubled as a celebration for CMWAC’s relocation and Chin’s birthday – was livestreamed on Chin’s Facebook page Sunday so that people could participate virtually.

Meanwhile, as of June 1, CMWAC’s new office will be at 3105 – 8888 Odlin Cres.

CMWAC is a Richmond-based non-profit organization that was established in 1995 and has since been working towards reducing the social stigma associated with mental illness through education and supportive services in the community.
