Richmond Transit Centre, Pathway Clubhouse and Family Services of Greater Vancouver are among the many beneficiaries of 7,000 disposable mask donations being dispersed to different community service organizations across the province.

The Rotary Richmond Foundation has delivered 1,800 face masks to Richmond Transit Centre, 900 to Pathway Clubhouse and 700 to Family Services of Greater Vancouver.

In addition, Vancouver-based non-profits Atira Women's Resource Society, PolyCan Health Centre and Aboriginal Mother Centre also received donations.

"We choose to distribute these resources to six community centres across the Lower Mainland, so more people can benefit from that. We hope these donations can help individuals, essential workers and families stay safe and healthy," said Jimmy Yan, one of the Rotarians who supported the initiative.

The Rotary Richmond Foundation was permitted a one-time exemption of the Medical Device Establishment License (MDEL) by Health Canada to import the 14,400 disposable face masks to Canada.

Currently, the foundation is working on the distribution of the rest face masks to long term care facilities and assisted living homes in Richmond.
