Today, global warming threatens the very nature of their habitat. As the ice disappears, so does the Inuit culture it is intimately connected to. People of the Ice (52 minutes) looks at climate change through the eyes of Inuit from several generations, showing how Inuit must draw on their ancient traditions to survive as the planet heats up. This program is held in partnership with the National Film Board.

This exhibition provides an opportunity for emerging and established artists from Richmond and nearby communities to exhibit together. This year, ArtRich celebrates artists with a strong connection to the Lower Mainland, and features their experiences of living in the region. The entries do not fit any specific theme, but rather reflect the diversity of our community. The 63 artworks from 63 local artists included this year were chosen by a panel of three art professionals, Nan Capogna, Paige Gratland, and Hannamari Jalovaara, and represent a variety of mediums, from painting to sculpture to textiles. ArtRich 2019 will also feature a set of People’s Choice awards for our community’s favourite artworks, with cash prizes. Awards will be announced by the Richmond News at the end of the exhibition. The opening reception will take place on Dec. 6, 7 - 9 p.m., and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
