Salvation Army hosts its first Christmas party at Richmond House

Annual Kettle Drive helping fund vital services for the community

The Salvation Army hosted its first Annual Christmas Celebration at its Richmond House last week.

The event, said Major Kathie Chiu, was a great opportunity to say thank you to all those who have supported them during the last few years.

There was great entertainment, with staff and shelter guests providing music and some great food prepared by their new chef, Adam Tobias.

As well as guests of the shelter, staff, friends from the community, donors, Richmond city council and staff was well represented.

Richmond House provides shelter for 30 men and women throughout the year and during the winter provides an additional 15 beds.

Much of the Salvation Army’s funds for the work they do comes from the annual Kettle Drive, with volunteers collecting donations outside stores and in malls throughout Richmond and across Canada.

They are also hosting their Annual Community Christmas Dinners at 8280 Gilbert Rd. on this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 19 through 21.
