Richmond art lovers hosting high tea, auction fundraiser

The Richmond Art Gallery Association (RAGA) is hosting its annual fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 23, called “Savour: High Tea and Art Auction.”

RAGA is inviting people to join them for an “exquisite afternoon tea with tantalizing performances, delicious snacks by Ms. Tiffin, handmade cocktails.”

A silent art auction representing the gallery’s past, present and future will benefit the diverse programming at the venue.

RAGA is urging participants to “dress to impress in your best high tea attire,” with the best-dressed and best fascinator awarded at the event.

Silent auction items include works by Diyan Achjadi, Greg Girard, Amy-Claire Huestis, Sandeep Johal, Tom Hsu, Sara Khan, Cindy Mochizuki, Emily Neufeld, Jon Sasaki, Karen Tam, Biliana Velkova and more.

The vegetarian, high tea menu includes: Cottage cheese and spinach stuffed naan; corn kebab, finger sandwiches; chocolate cardamom cupcakes, rose pistachio shortbread cookies and scones with mango ginger jam.

“(The event) is a celebration of local artists and arts with the strong connection to Richmond community,” said Lei Tian, RAGA board member.

“From high tea tasting to art auction and members networking, the event is open to the public and made possible by the great support from local organizations and the city.”

The event, at the Richmond Art Gallery at the cultural centre, goes from 1 to 4 p.m., with the auction preview and cocktails at 1 p.m., followed by tea service at 2 p.m.

The beverage selection is being provided by Nikaido Teas and Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks.
