Elderly Richmond pedestrian struck by car last week dies in hospital

Richmond RCMP is investigating the first pedestrian fatality of 2020, after an elderly man who was hit by a truck last week has since died in hospital.

On Jan. 14, shortly before 10:30 a.m., a 72-year-old Richmond man was struck by a light-coloured pick-up truck near the intersection of Cooney and Ackroyd roads, according to RCMP.

The driver pulled over to offer assistance and has been cooperative with police. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Richmond Mounties are asking witnesses to come forward and asking drivers to check their dash-cams for possible footage.
