The end of Ramadan this week was marked by a donation of 45 meals to residents at the temporary modular housing building in Richmond’s city centre.

The MTO School of Islamic Sufism was taking part in a global initiative to provide meals in 35 cities in nine countries, including Richmond, to people without homes, those living in retirement homes, to women’s resource centres and housing programs.

Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims around the world and it is observed by fasting, prayer and reflection.

There is also a tradition of giving during Ramadan, explained Golzar Ejadi, spokesperson for the MTO School of Islamic Sufism.

Ramadan ended this year on Saturday, May 23.

The temporary modular housing building has 40 residents and is run by RainCity Housing.
