Richmond club tops up KPU scholarship for women

A Richmond club presented a cheque to the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Foundation to top up an existing scholarship for female students.

The Richmond branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) donated $6,100 to the KPU Foundation, topping up the club’s endowment fund with the foundation to $40,000.

The donation will allow two female students in any degree to receive a $1,000 scholarship in comparison to the single $1,000 scholarship from the club each year.

“We are proud to be able to provide another scholarship to a deserving woman studying at KPU,” said Deborah Track, president of CFUW Richmond, adding it was important for the club to deliver the cheque before the end of the year.

The goal for the club was to present the donation in commemoration of CFUW’s 100th anniversary in Canada.

CFUW Richmond created its KPU endowment fund in 2007 to help women pursue post-secondary studies.

The cheque was a contribution of members of CFUW Richmond, families, friends and the club itself.
