Police and ambulance were in attendance at a single-vehicle accident in Richmond city centre Monday morning, where a driver appears to have a struck a lamppost.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in the northbound lane of No. 3 Road, just before the Westminster Highway intersection.

It's unclear how the accident happened, however the elderly occupants of the car appeared to be walking away from the scene relatively unscathed.

Police have two of the three lanes sealed off for the moment and drivers are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
