A Richmond man has been permanently barred from practising law as part of a crackdown by the Law Society of BC.

Li Xin Cheng, also known as Clint Cheng, and company Princemountain Transnational Services Inc., have been banned from practising law and from representing themselves as a lawyer and a law firm, according to the Law Society.

Cheng and Princemountain have also been ordered to pay $1,870.33 in costs to the Law Society.

The society also took action against a Delta man.

“These individuals and businesses put the public at risk by performing unregulated and uninsured legal services or by misrepresenting themselves as lawyers,” a statement from the Law Society reads.

The individuals and businesses in question have issued written commitments to “cease engaging in the unauthorized practice of law.”

However, if those commitments issued between June 23 and Nov. 26 are broken, the Law Society can obtain a court order, which BC Supreme Court issued against Cheng and Princemountain on Aug. 28.

The society also obtained a court order against Dennis Pieschel and his business D & K Direct Management Inc., of Delta, permanently banning them from practising law for a fee.
