Letters: Veggies over-packed at Richmond supermarket

Dear Editor, I am wondering why, in this day and age, when everyone, including corporations and consumers, are looking at reducing what is being sent to the landfills, is the Richmond Wal-Mart packaging the majority of their fruits and vegetables in
Walmart
The covers came off the south fascia of the new Walmart-anchored Central at Garden City outdoor shopping mall this week, ahead of its soft opening on Thursday, Oct. 27. Local environmentalists, who opposed the development for years before the City of Richmond granted planning approval in 2013, say the centre is every bit a blot on the landscape as they expected it to be.

Dear Editor,

I am wondering why, in this day and age, when everyone, including corporations and consumers, are looking at reducing what is being sent to the landfills, is the Richmond Wal-Mart packaging the majority of their fruits and vegetables in styrofoam containers and then  wrapping them in plastic?  Shame on Wal Mart and shame on the consumers who are buying these items!
