Dear Editor,

Thirty-nine years ago, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres Terry Fox was forced to stop running outside Thunder Bay, Ont.

His dream was for a world free from cancer. He said, “Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me.”

On Sunday, Sept. 15 at Garry Point Park, hundreds of participants and volunteers joined together at the annual Terry Fox Run to honour his legacy.

We are thrilled to share that through these efforts our community raised $18,767 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

These funds are hard at work in the hands of the very best researchers across the country who are working to find a cure.

We are thankful to everyone who made this possible.

From our amazing committee members and volunteers who worked tirelessly and with great dedication to make this special day happen.

To the many local businesses and organizations who donated their goods and services so that all the money raised goes directly to cancer research.

We are extremely grateful to all the participants who raised funds and ran, walked or wheeled in support of Terry’s dream.

Your contributions will make sure that cancer research continues to move closer to a cure every day giving hope to pa-tients and their families.

Together we showed that the spirit of Terry Fox has a home in our wonderful community.
