South Arm's Richmond Kyokushin Karate Club is a community-based program for children, teens, adults, families and seniors.

The city’s oldest Karate school — Richmond Kyokushin Karate Club — will begin its 52nd year of providing instruction through the South Arm Community Association, starting this week.

The club has been affiliated with the South Arm Association since January 1972, and has held classes continuously at the South Arm Community Hall since that time.  Current Head Instructor Stuart Corrigal, a 7th degree black belt, has been training with the club since the early spring of 1968.

The club is a community-based program and as such provides instruction in Kyokushin Karate for children (six years & older), teens, adults, families and seniors.  The popular family class provides one of the few opportunities in organized sports that allows entire families to participate in a sporting activity as a group.

In addition to the regular Martial Arts training opportunities, the club provides access to many local, regional, provincial, national and international tournaments, events and training camps for all members.

Since the inception of the club, hundreds of local members have reached out internationally to experience friendships, camaraderie and training opportunities with affiliated Kyokushin Karate clubs around the world.

The Richmond club has played host to many top international Kyokushin Karate instructors, including the founder of Kyokushin Karate, Mas Oyama in 1989.

If you are interested in a different individual challenge or something that is a family friendly challenge, the Richmond Kyokushin Karate Club provides the benefits of health, fitness and  discipline to all.  Classes are held Monday, Thursday & Saturday at the South Arm Community Hall.F or more information, please call: Kathy at 604-274-5976.
