Richmond looking to rebound from loss to Grandview
Sockeyes
Sockeyes goalie Jacob Stone clears the puck up ice during last week's 7-3 win against the White Rock Whalers at Minoru Arenas.

Richmond Sockeyes will be looking for a little more consistency in their game when they welcome the Ridge Meadows Flames to Minoru Arenas tonight at 7 p.m.

The Sockeyes ( are coming off a 7-3 road loss to the Grandview Steelers on Sunday night — a result that also saw the teams swap positions in the Tom Shaw Conference, sitting third and second respectively.

Craig Schouten’s shorthanded goal early in the third period cut the Grandview lead to 4-3 before the hosts reeled off three goals in less than two minutes to put the game out of reach.

Rookies Ryan Watson and Mattias Hohlweg had the other Richmond goals. Marcus Cumberworth made 20 saves in relief after starter Jacob Stone was replaced early in the second period.

It was the opposite score three nights earlier as the Sockeyes got off to a great start and never looked back in a 7-3 win over the visiting White Rock Whalers.

Easton Elmer, Tom Sweeney, call-up Jordan Si and Hohlweg made it 4-0 after 20 minutes. Garret Wicks returned from the injured list to make it 5-0 and Hohlweg notched his second of the night before the Whalers finally responded. Jack McMillan had the other Richmond goal, while Stone made 33 saves for the win.
