Vancouver/Richmond defeated the Delta Footmen to capture gold at the Provincial Field Lacrosse U15 Tier 2 Championships at Minoru Park over the weekend.

It was a golden weekend on home turf for Vancouver/Richmond at the Provincial Field Lacrosse Tier 2 Championships at Minoru Park.

Vancouver/Richmond capped an unbeaten weekend with a 9-6 win over the Delta Footmen on Monday.

The run to the top of the podium included earlier round-robin wins over Port Coquitlam (15-2), Delta (11-5) and North Island (8-2). The hosts then defeated Surrey 7-4 in the semi-finals.

Cameron Balewicz earned the Warrior Sports Most Valuable Player Award. Teammate Griffin McCullagh was a recipient of the Warrior Sports Fairplay Award.

The BC Lacrosse Association also recognized the volunteer efforts of Greg Paterson and Meaghan Webster.

Vancouver/Richmond also captured silver the previous weekend at the U13 Tier 2 Championships in Nanaimo— falling 7-6 to Pac Rim in the title game.

Meanwhile, Teagan Ng capped her first season of field lacrosse in grand style.

The McMath Secondary Grade 10 student earned MVP honours in leading the New West Salmonbellies to the U15 tier 1 provincial title in Burnaby.

A box lacrosse standout, Ng took up the female field version of the sport back in October and proceeded to dominate her division.

She was also an emergency call-up for the Team BC senior team that played in Palm Springs and Florida. Her play generated plenty of interest from NCAA Division One programs. A decision on her university destination will come in September.
