A number of Richmond Rapid swimmers turned in impressive performances at the club's first Pass Meet of the year.

A number of swimmers made impressive competitive debuts at the Richmond Rapids’ own season-opening Pass Meet.

The event features young athletes being introduced to racing as part of the overall development process.

Level One swimmers compete in the 100 individual medley, a pair of 50 metre stroke events and the 100 freestyle. Once they achieve under 2:10 for the 100 IM, they are able to move up to Level Two.

That level features the 200 IM, two stroke 50s, and the 200 Free. Athletes attempt to swim under four minutes in the 200 IM and 3:35 in the 200 Free. That will send them to their first Lower Mainland Regional meet.

The Rapids’ results were impressive.

Every swimmer in Level One went under 2:10 in the 100 IM and are all moving into Level 2 for the next Pass meet.

In Level Two, there were 14 swimmers under four minutes in the 200 IM, and 10 were under the 3:35 mark for 200 Free!  That is amazing for the first racing of the year!

Swimmers moving onto Level Two include: Natalie Yee, Damon Mo, Mackenzie Lau, Aimee Anderson, Matthew Lau, Thomas Jin, Genvieve Chaw, Wyat Panerio, Elizabeth Anderson and Adrian Lee.

Swimmers who achieved the LMR standard are: Stephanie NG, Selena Xu, Theodore Pak, Matthew Liu, Lillian Wang, Heidi Ekk, David Ekk, Ivan Hu and Logan Kuo.
