Here are the Run for Rwanda results

What a great day for a run, last Saturday. Thanks to all our runners and walkers, the Rotary Run for Rwanda was a resounding success for the ninth year in a row.

What a great day for a run, last Saturday. Thanks to all our runners and walkers, the Rotary Run for Rwanda was a resounding success for the ninth year in a row. Nearly 50 kids did the nine-and-under run, and participants of the 5 km run or walk and 10 km run varied from nine years old to 84. We love that there is always a great mix of Bowen Islanders and visitors from the mainland.

Winners are the following:

Kids’ run: The first boy was Finlay Boggan and first girl was Avery Hilliard.

5 km run female: Rebecca Johnstone (1st), Holly Kasasian (2nd), Rebecca Welsh (3rd).

5 km run male: Oscar Ryan (1st), Johannes Heinemann (2nd), Frances Lynn (3rd).

10 Km run female: Meredith McGregor (1st), Kira Jackson (2nd), Kim Hall (3rd).

10 Km run male: Colin Kerr (1st), Jeremy Rochussen (2nd), Aaron Andersen (3rd).

Detailed results and times can be found at komeracanada.ca/rotaryrunforrwanda.

Without the support of our volunteers, many of whom return to help out year after year, we would be lost, so we are deeply grateful to all of them. As for our sponsors, many thanks go to the following:

Kintec, Paragon Financial, Bowen Island Properties, Frits de Vries, Dr. Gloria Chao, Barbara Wahler, the Gym, Lulemon, Artigiani Milanesi, The Ruddy Potato, The General Store, Savary Island Pie Co., Artisan Eats, the Snug Café, McTaggart Water, Artisan Office Services, the Undercurrent, Cates Pharmacy and Union Steamship Co. Marina and Bowfest.

Next year is our tenth anniversary run, supporting Komera Canada, a charity sponsoring Rwandan young women and high school and university. See you there!
