Letter: Gas price regulation would hurt fight against carbon emissions

Gas prices started taking a dive after a dispute over production between Saudi Arabia and Russia rippled across the globe. The price drop here in the Tri-Cities also comes as the COVID-19 pandemic puts pressure on the global economy.

The Editor,

Re. "We’re getting hosed but is there anything that can be done about it?" (editorial, Opinion, The Tri-City News, Sept. 12).

Regulating gas prices would be the exact opposite of the province's current policy of raising gas prices to reduce carbon emissions.

Supporting regulated gas prices is to deny climate change and the carbon tax proposition of the provincial and federal governments.
