PoMo Arts is helping people scratch their creative itch, even as they’re cooped up at home riding out the COVID-19 pandemic.
The non-profit community arts education facility and gallery is launching a series of online programs for May and June. The programs are for all ages and skill levels.
The classes will be taught over the Zoom virtual meeting platform, allowing for a degree of interactivity, and they will be designed to use supplies that are already around the house, or can be easily purchased online. Each course includes a link to acquire those supplies.
Kids classes include animal drawing, cartooning, modern art workshops and another inspired Russian abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. There’s also coding classes.
Programs for teens 11-years-old and up include drawing, cartooning, writing and coding.
Adults can explore classes in acrylic painting, drawing, mixed media, and watercolours.
Registration also includes a pay-if-forward campaign for tax-deductible donations to help families with economic challenges brought on by the pandemic enroll their kids in summer camps.
Private online music instruction for all ages is also available.
As well, PoMo Arts has created digital versions of its current exhibitions including works by the Tri-City Potters, Shapeshifter by Vancouver visual artist Lori Popadiuk, and acrylic paintings by Meghan Spence, who’s based in Abbotsford.
