Port Coquitlam’s Aiden Bain faced 10 shots and made two saves to register the clean sheet in SFU’s net. It was the second win in three starts for the junior who played his high school soccer at Terry Fox secondary.

The Clan will play its first home game of its Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule on Oct. 3, against Saint Martin’s University, 8:30 p.m. at Terry Fox field in Burnaby.

The women’s team, meanwhile, opens its home schedule on Thursday against Central Washington University. And the comfort of familiar environs couldn’t come any sooner as the team failed to gain a victory in the four road games that started its season

The Clan women lost their second and third matches against Sonoma State University and Stanislaus State University. They fell 3-0 to the Seawolves last Friday in Rohnert Park, CA., then the Warriors beat them 1-0 in Turlock, CA. In fact, in the four starts that included a 0-0 draw to open the schedule, the team has yet to bulge the net behind an opposing goalkeeper.

Thursday’s match is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Terry Fox field.
