The Editor,

Re. "Towers proposed to replace Coquitlam car lot" (tricitynews.com, Sept. 11).

It was almost two years ago when I saw an ambulance racing from Royal Columbian Hospital heading toward the Lougheed Highway at North Road. It was bad timing as the street was plugged with cars and trucks. Trying to save someone's life often means getting help is counted in seconds. Well, the driver was forced to put the tires on the right-side onto the sidewalk and amazingly got across and on up North Road.

Just imagine how the same crossroads will look when all the highrise condos are completed: The City of Lougheed, then there's both sides of North Road as far as you can see, also the once needed industrial land, Fraser Mills, soon to house thousands of residents.

There are so many questions that need to be asked and hopefully answered about out city and how densification is handled. When traffic studies come to councils, they are usually focused on the immediate neighbourhood but another section should be the overall impact on the surrounding intersections and the flow of traffic.
