Clay Stevenson made 39 saves to lead his Coquitlam Express to a 3-0 win over the Surrey Eagles, Friday at the South Surrey Arena.

It was the veteran goaltender’s first shutout of the BC Hockey League season that came with a huge emotional toll. It was Stevenson's first game since his mother passed away.

Rookie defence man Nicholas Carabin scored two goals for the Express and Bradley Ong scored the other to provide all the offence Coquitlam needed as they fired 36 shots at Surrey goaltender Thomas Scarfone.

The Express are now off until next Friday, when they play the Langley Rivermen at the George Preston Arena. They return home the next night to launch a five game homestead at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex with a game against the Chilliwack Chiefs at 7 p.m.
