Hear from those standing for North Vancouver district council seats at an all-candidates meeting on Oct. 16, 7 p.m., at Mount Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Ave.

The meeting will be co-hosted by: Parkgate Community Services Society; Blueridge Community Association; Seymour Community Association; Strathcona Community Association; Deep Cove Community Association; and Mount Seymour United Church.

At Parkgate Community Centre on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m., attend an educational presentation and discussion on the three proportional systems presented in this year’s electoral referendum. The session will take place in Mary Hunter Hall at Parkgate and be facilitated by Conrad King from the department of political science at Capilano University.

On or around Oct. 22, all residents in B.C. will receive a mail-in ballot, to be returned to Elections BC by Nov. 30. Voters will be asked to answer two questions on the referendum ballot.

The first question asks if we should keep the current First Past the Post voting system or move to a system of proportional representation. The second question asks voters to rank three proportional systems: Dual Member Proportional, Mixed Member Proportional, and Rural-Urban Proportional.

During his presentation, King will explain the differences between the three proportional systems.

Space is limited inside Mary Hunter Hall, so it’s recommended that those interested arrrive come early. Parkgate Community Centre is located at 3625 Banff Court.
