Lions clubs roaring in the Cove

Deep Cove is roaring with support from two local Lions clubs. Chartered in 1966, the Mount Seymour Lions Club has given back to many local individuals, families and organizations over the years, dispensing more than $2-million to the community.

The Mount Seymour Lions built three family housing projects in the Parkgate area, a seniors building in Deep Cove, and continues to manage those 200 affordable housing units.

Family Services of the North Shore, Parkgate Community Services Society, North Shore Search and Rescue and Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports (pictured above) are among the local organizations the Mount Seymour Lions Club supports.

In August 1999, the all-female Deep Cove Lions Club chartered with around 35 members, six of whom are still active. In 2017, the club raised about $50,000 through fundraising events such as popcorn sales and shred-a-thons.

The Deep Cove Lions Club supports the My Parkgate Break dementia program at Parkgate, North Shore Youth Safe House, North Shore Crisis Services Society and Harvest Project, among other organizations.
