Family-owned roofing company is passionate about giving back

For Clay and Abraham Gagnon, roofing is just one way of giving back to their hometown community. The Gagnon brothers were born and raised in Whonnock, Maple Ridge, a hilly, small town studded with trees bordered by the Fraser River.

In Whonnock, the sense of community is everything. “We see a lot of the people over the years as we’ve all grown together and it means a lot to us to try to reach out, do what we can and try to make this town as good as we can,” Clay Gagnon said.

As owners and operators of Whonnock Roofing, Clay and Abraham deeply care about the work they do, and one example is their personal involvement in hiring each of their 21 employees to carry out their business in an ethical manner.  Another major achievement for the brothers was to outline and design a part of the Roofing Contractors Association of B.C. exam. This exam is to certify roofers in British Columbia to carry out their duties by upholding industry standards and provide consumers trusted services. Whonnock Roofing is proud to do business the right way.

However, raising over $50,000 over the past 12 years for the Friends in Need Food Bank and supporting various kids’ sports leagues is Whonnock Roofing’s way of saying thank you to the community and they hold it close to their heart. It was in Maple Ridge where their parents first started the company nearly 40 years ago. Since taking the company over 13 years ago, the Gagnon brothers have sustained the hard work ethic and community involvement that Whonnock Roofing has always been known for.

Their hard work both on and off the roofs is a testament to what Whonnock Roofing is all about. “That speaks to our value, it translates to the job you’re going to get,” Gagnon said.
