It was an impressive showing for Delta Gymnastics' girls program at the season-oping meet in Coquitlam last month.

Delta Gymnastics finished strong at Coquitlam’s annual Winterfest competition — walking away with an impressive 72 medals.

This was the first competition of 2020 and many of the girls were trying out new skills for the first time. Delta Gymnastics sent 45 WAG and 35 Interclub athletes — returning with 32 gold, 22 silver,18 bronze and an outstanding 23 all-around medals.

The exceptional finishes can be credited to Delta’s highly skilled and accomplished coaches, seven of which accompanied the athletes.

“In some categories we had lots of strong Delta athletes competing against each other, this resulted in Delta dominating the podium in a few levels.” said Jennifer Dober, Delta Gymnastics Women’s Competitive Program Coordinator.

With so many remarkable results all Delta gymnasts should be commended. Some standouts achieving gold All Around in the highest levels include Lila Bulka, JO9, Ava Lappin JO8 older age category, Gabriela Hoolsema JO8 in the younger category, Aoba Onda JO7 inthe older age category, Jordan Ackerman JO7 in the younger age category and Sydney Hollas Aspire 1.

Others achieving first All Around in JO2 to JO6 include Brandy Harrington, Chelsea Jui, Mackenzie Hayes, Malia Hancock and Emily Merriman. Delta’s highest score of the weekend was Layla Reilly, JO4, with a 9.8 on floor.

It was an impressive start to the competition season as Delta travels to Tacoma, WA this weekend for Charity Choice Invitational.
