The first performance of the Vancouver Chamber Music Society’s Tsawwassen series will feature the Vancouver Cello Quartet.

The only professional ensemble of its kind in Canada, the Vancouver Cello Quartet has quickly won the hearts of music lovers through performances of classical music as well as contemporary and popular works.

This unique chamber music experience comes to Tsawwassen on Friday, Sept. 13 as part of the Vancouver Chamber Music Society’s Tsawwassen series at South Delta Baptist Church.

Subsequent concerts will follow on Nov. 22, Feb. 28, April 24 and May 15. All concerts start at 7:30 p.m.

Formed in 2012, the Vancouver Cello Quartet is comprised of four dedicated professionals (Lee Duckles, Luke Kim, Cristian Márkos and Kevin Park) who perform original works and arrangements for cellos. This ensemble of classically trained players celebrates the unequaled sound of four cellos.

The mission of the Vancouver Cello Quartet is to create an eclectic mix for every concert, shaping the program according to each venue’s interests while maintaining a commitment to musical diversity.

Park, who also serves as the Vancouver Chamber Music Society’s artistic director, said he is excited to bring this music to South Delta.

“This is the first chamber music series that has been presented on a regular basis in Tsawwassen,” said Park. “We are trying to fulfill our mandate of sharing our music to a broader audience, so the way to do that is to create these types of music series.

“We know that we have lots of people from South Delta who travel into Vancouver and when we present our Christmas show here the venue is packed, so we know the interest is there.”

Regular subscription for the series is $140 ($100 for students). To subscribe call 778-847-3890 or visit www.vancouverchambermusic.com.
