A last-minute goal gave the Capilano Blues a thrilling 1-0 win over the Douglas College Royals in PacWest men’s soccer action Saturday at Capilano University.

A last-minute goal gave the Capilano Blues a thrilling 1-0 win over the Douglas College Royals in PacWest men’s soccer action Saturday at Capilano University.  

Adrian Sahagun raced in off the right wing to blast in a left-footed shot in the 89th minute to give the Blues a win in their home opener, their first victory of the season.

Capilano then added their second win a day later, topping the Langara Falcons 4-3 at home on Sunday. The weekend wins moved the Blues to 2-1-1 on the season, tying them for top spot in the league with seven points through four games.

On the women’s side the Blues lost a pair of tight games over the weekend, falling 2-1 against Douglas Saturday and 1-0 against Langara Sunday to fall to 0-3-1 on the season.

Capilano will be back in action this weekend, hosting Vancouver Island University Saturday with the women kicking off at 1 p.m. followed by the men at 3 p.m.
