Daryl McHardy has been serving up handmade Jamaican patties (piping hot or frozen) at his beloved Patty Shop at MacDonald and 24th Avenue since 1979. Little has changed over the years except the traffic outside his door, says the affable store owner who immigrated to Canada from Jamaica in the 1960s and still eats two Jamaican patties a day. As for his health? “I’m still upright,” McHardy says with a laugh.
