Prime Minister Trudeau mobbed at Burnaby's Hats Off Day

As if Hats Off Day couldn’t get any crazier. The Burnaby event already sees Hastings Street turn into a sea of humanity, with thousands of people trying not to collide with each other as the road is closed to vehicles.

As if Hats Off Day couldn’t get any crazier.

The Burnaby event already sees Hastings Street turn into a sea of humanity, with thousands of people trying not to collide with each other as the road is closed to vehicles.

Today, it got even busier when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dropped by to meet the public.

Trudeau, who spoke with Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley during a private meeting earlier this afternoon, appeared near the Hastings fire hall and was mobbed.

People lined up to shake Trudeau’s hand and have their photos taken with him.

It was a pretty hectic scene and NOW photographer Jennifer Gauthier was there.

The Burnaby North-Seymour riding will be hotly contested, with incumbent MP Terry Beech of the Liberals facing off with former-Burnaby MP Svend Robinson of the NDP, Green candidate Amita Kuttner and Conservative candidate Heather Leung.
