The annual Teddy Bear Grande Parade is happening tomorrow (Sunday) in Coquitlam.

And Tri-City drivers should be aware that Pinetree Way will be shut while the procession is on in the morning.

That means there’ll be no vehicle access to the Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station or Evergreen Cultural Centre between about 9:30 a.m. and noon (the arts facility parking lot will be closed at 6 a.m.), and swimmers will have to use Town Centre Boulevard to get to the City Centre Aquatic Complex.

Families and sports groups needing to get to Coquitlam Town Centre Park during those times will also have to drive along Pipeline Road to enter via the east side of Trevor Wingrove Way.

Commuters can use Pipeline Road, David Avenue, Johnson Street and Glen Drive as road detours.

Organized by Festival Coquitlam, the Grand Parade will feature dozens of entries from around Metro Vancouver and will attract thousands of spectators.

It will be followed by the Teddy Bear Picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the north end of Town Centre Park. The entertainment includes performances by Mr. I, the Optimist Club for a fashion show, Tony Prophet, Charlotte Diamond, Mellado Dance Elite and Tony Prophet.

Admission is free. Visit festivalcoquitlam.ca for details.
