Medical incident may have led to head-on Burnaby collision: police

Police have been on scene at a collision in Burnaby that may have been caused by a medical incident. First responders were called to the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Brighton Avenue at about 12:10 p.m.

Police have been on scene at a collision in Burnaby that may have been caused by a medical incident.

First responders were called to the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Brighton Avenue at about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, according to Burnaby RCMP.

A white car and black SUV had collided head on at the intersection, but there was limited damage to both vehicles.

Before police arrived, firefighters and paramedics had removed the driver of the SUV and begun CPR and were seen working furiously to save the man's life..

The man, described by police as "elderly," was then taken to hospital.

No one else was injured in the crash.

Police are investigating, but it appears a medical incident led to the collision, according to Burnaby RCMP.
