Carbon monoxide poisoning aboard Steveston boat sends three to hospital

Three people aboard a boat in Steveston were taken to hospital on Monday afternoon suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Four ambulances and three fire trucks were reported to have raced to the scene on Bayview Street, at Imperial Landing, at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

The Richmond News understands that the three were aboard a vessel moored at Imperial Landing when the call was made to emergency services.

According to a spokesperson for BC Emergency Health Services, a call was made at 4:12pm for carbon monoxide poisoning and four ambulances were dispatched.

Three patients, the spokesperson said, were cared for by paramedics and taken to hospital in serious condition.

It's not yet known how the carbon monoxide leak happened.
