43rd annual Powell Street Festival

Immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of Vancouver’s Japanese-Canadian population who were some of the earliest residents of the neighbourhood. Enjoy live performances, workshops, vendors, art and, of course, plenty of food.

When: Aug. 3 to 4, 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Pride is a colourful, jubilant, exciting and important gathering, and this year the fest is focused on marking 50 years of staying strong and fighting. It all culminates in the Pride Parade, which bills itself as “a celebration, a protest, a party, a place to take up space, an opportunity to don your finest and shiniest and a chance to recognize how far we have come and to reflect on where we need to go from here.” And you are all invited!

Summer Movie Nights: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Order up an extra large pepperoni pizza and get ready for a night of movie fun straight out of the sewer. The 2014 version of TMNT will be screening with some special bonuses, including a live DJ who will be remixing tracks to martial arts action on screen.
