Fan Expo Vancouver is a three-day pop culture event that lets fans of just about anything celebrate what they love. Get an autograph or a photo with your favourite guest and get the inside scoop about your favourite movies and TV shows at celebrity panels. There are workshops, shopping and lots of costumed characters. Usually held in fall, Fan Expo Vancouver has jumped into spring for 2019, so don’t miss your chance to geek out.

Brazilian Carnaval 2019

Indulge in a night of colour, sights and sounds celebrating Brazilian music, dance and culture. Celebrate the night away and enjoy live music featuring Sambacouver, Bloco Sambatá, Samba Fusion and DJ Nanda, playing the best Brazilian hits.

Japan Food Fair

Hosted by the Vancouver Buddhist Temple, this spring bazaar-style event features heaps of traditional Japanese fare such as maki (roll) sushi, saba (mackerel) nigiri sushi, chicken teriyaki, ohagi (sweet sticky rice balls), manju (Japanese steamed cake), udon noodles and more, all at affordable prices. Admission is free, and the event is family-friendly.

Vancouver International Women in Film Festival

The 14th annual VIWFF celebrates the best of cinema created by women. Over the fest’s six-day run, 49 films from 19 different countries will screen, including the work of 18 local filmmakers. As well as film screenings, the festival offers a variety of ancillary programming including film panels, special guests, artist talks, workshops, pitch sessions, receptions, an awards gala and more.

Vancouver International Wine Festival

Now in its 41st year, this premiere wine event offers the chance to taste more than 700 wines spanning 16 countries. For the first time this year, wines from Romania will be featured alongside those of Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Croatia. The festival focuses on a different region or country every year, and the featured region this time is California. Expect tasting rooms, seminars, panels and lots of wine-focused events.
