Say what you will about your in-laws, but Vancouver’s Mukesh Dutt is feeling the love for his mother-in-law, whose Valentine’s Day gift of a Set for Life 20th Anniversary ticket led to a whopping top prize win of $675,000.

Dutt, traditionally a Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 player when the jackpots are high, had never played a Scratch & Win ticket before this life-changing win.

“To be honest I wasn’t even sure how to play at first,” said Dutt. “After this, I think I’ll start buying a few more Set for Life tickets.”

Dutt, who works as a plumber, said the win means he’ll be able to go house hunting in Vancouver sooner than he originally expected.

“My son is only two months old, so being able to buy a home in Vancouver where I grew up and put a house over my family’s heads is special,” he said.

As for how to reward his mother-in-law, Dutt said there will be a family celebration planned for the future. He also plans to use the winnings to pay off some bills and perhaps take a northern Canada camping trip with his family.

According to BCLC, Set for Life players redeemed more than $10.5 million in prize winning Scratch and Win tickets in 2019. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Set for Life, which gives players even more chances to win at SetforLife.ca.
