Vampire hunters and crime fighters from episodic television and a film about a disappearing man are all in the running for 2017 Leo Awards.
The Leos – which recognize excellence in the British Columbia film and television sphere – are handed out each May and June over several splashy ceremonies. The list of nominees for the 2017 edition was posted overnight to the Leo Awards web site.
Motive leads the pack with 13 nominations. The CTV crime procedural completed its four-season run last August.
Cadence – a psychological thriller about a young girl who's terrorized on her family farm after the arrival of her popstar boyfriend's best friends – leads the motion picture category with 10 nominations. The vampire-centric series Van Helsing, the short film Haley, and Geoff Redknapp’s horror film The Unseen each received nine nominations.
Awards will also be handed out in the categories of Short Drama, Documentary Program or Series, Information, Lifestyle or Reality Program or Series, Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series, Animation Program or Series, Youth or Children's Program or Series, Web Series, Music Video, and Student Production.
