1. UBC-trained opera singer Neema Bickersmith co-created and performs Century Song for Toronto’s Volcano Theatre at this year’s PuSh Festival. Billed as “a wordless chronicle of the ages,” Century Song features Bickersmith using her voice and body to explore the many identities that our history connects her to, against a backdrop of shifting visuals and a range of music, from Rachmaninoff to John Cage to a new commission by Canadian composer Reza Jacobs. 2. Funny dude David Cross (Mr. Show, Arrested Development) returns to his standup comedy roots after a hiatus and performs an early and late show, Feb. 2, at the Vogue Theatre as part of his Making America Great Again! tour and a precursor to the Just for Laughs Northwest Comedy Festival.
