Top 5 things to do this Friday in Vancouver

March 27, 2015

Hodor: Only knowing Game Of Thrones through the HBO series rather than 66-year-old George R.R. Martin’s worryingly unfinished series of novels, I’ve no idea why tonight’s show at the RIo  by comedy troupe Tourettes Without Regrets is called “Game of Thrones Live: Hodor’s Revenge.” Last we saw the inarticulate friendly giant on TV, he had escaped an attack by animated skeletons and was taken with Bran and Meera to visit a three-eyed raven. Sure hope he's okay but it’s sure to be a hoot even if he's met a horrible end, as people tend to do in Westeros. It could even be funnier than the Bad Lip Reading video below.

Let your backbone slide: Canadian hip hop pioneer Maestro Fresh-Wes brings his orchestrated noise, along with guests Clean Freq, Giuliano and Broken Head, to L.E.D. Bar tonight.

Get eclipsed: Portland’s husband and wife duo Moon Duo bring their sonic soundscapes, not to mention a drummer, to the Biltmore tonight in support of new album Shadow of the Sun. The Bilinda Butcher and Craft Spells open.

Have a laugh: Deemed one of the “Top Five Comedians Who Should Be Movie Stars” by Nerve.com, Chelsea Lately and The Pete Holmes Show regular Jamie Lee headlines at the Comedy Mix tonight and tomorrow. Chris James and Trent McLellan have sets as well.

Get mixed up: Not to be confused with Edmonton’s upcoming Sonic Boom Festival headlined by Alexisonfire, our own Sonic Boom Festival specializing in chamber music continues tonight at Pyatt Hall with Mixed Ensembles concert number two.
