Top 5 things to do this Thursday in Vancouver

April 2, 2015

Get a little bit country: A former sixth draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks, Kelowna native Chad Brownlee went on to find his true calling as a Juno-winning country musician and brings his When the Lights Go Down tour with guests Jess Moskaluke and Bobby Wills to the Commodore Ballroom tonight.

Get in front of a TV: Speaking of the Canucks, who had to overcome some highly dubious officiating in their shoout-out win over the Blues on Tuesday, the team is on a five-game winning streak and will take on the hated Chicago Blackhawks for their penultimate road game of the regular season tonight. Eddie Lack, who has a career-high 16 wins under his suspenders this season, gets the start. The puck drops at 5: 30 p.m.

Get XXX: Local band the Elixxxirs play the Biltmore Cabaret tonight to celebrate the release of the first feature length album, East Side, with special guests the Ponderosas, Everybody Left and Cawama.

Get rolling: Vancity Thearte screens Tony Girardin’s documentary Marinoni exploring the life and times of charismatic 75-year-old bicycle maker Giuseppe Marinoni.

Get hot: Parisian ‘60s-era prog rockers Magma rock the Venue tonight.
