Top 5 things to do this Tuesday in Vancouver

March 10, 2015

Get riotous: The main branch of the Vancouver Public Library presents a free screening tonight at 7 p.m. of the new documentary Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer about the growing, balaclavaed Russian feminist collective, some of whom are facing hard time for giving a satirical performance in a Moscow cathedral as well as generally being a pain in President Putin’s posterior. In Russian with English subtitles.

Get wolfish: U.K. indie rockers Wolf Alice play at the Biltmore Cabaret tonight in support of new EP Creature Songs. The peachy new single “Giant Peach” from their upcoming album My Love Is Cool was leaked two weeks ago, so expect to hear that one too.

See What You’re Missing: A new comedy by Vancouver-born, England-based playwright Tamara Micner continues tonight at Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre as part of the ongoing Chutzpah Festival. Directed by John Cooper, What You’re Missing explores about the trials and tribulations of two young Jews in love from very different backgrounds.

Enjoy a combo: Portugese duo Tó Trips and Pedro V. Gonçalves, a.k.a. Dead Combo, bring their duelling guitars and various other instruments to Electric Owl in support of new album A Bunch of Meninos.

Get on up: Despite the lack of snow, the Grouse Grind remains closed but exercise enthusiasts looking to get their heart rates up can head on over to 147-metre-tall Harbour Centre today for Urban Grind between 4:30 and 6 p.m. The $5 admission includes a post-climb beer and a food court voucher.
