Top 5 things to do this Tuesday in Vancouver

March 17, 2015

Pay tribute: Fittingly enough, the Vancouver Canucks will honour the legacy one of the most popular figures in team history – the late Pat Quinn – on Saint Patrick’s Day tonight when they host the very team he broke into the NHL as a head coach with nearly four decades ago, the Philadelphia Flyers. They will then hopefully honour his memory further by extending their home-ice win streak to seven straight games by beating the team the Big Irishman first started his career as an big leagues bench boss with. The puck drops at Rogers Arena at 7 p.m. Eddie Lack will once again get the start and Alex Burrows is from back a lower-body injury that kept him out of Saturday's Leafs blowout.

Migrate to the Cultch: The life and paintings of Ojibwe shaman-artist Norval Morrisseau are brought to life in new show using dance, music and eye-popping design called TransMigration opening tonight at the venerable Cultch on Venables.

See the beginning of a run: Fearless Fringe fest regular TJ Dawe brings his latest one-man show Marathon, which recounts his short stint as a track and field athlete back in high school that was an attempt to please his principal (who also happened to be his father), opening tonight at Granville Island’s Studio 1398.

Go west: The J.J. Bean coffee shop located in the historic Maxine’s Hideaway is hosting a free "Tales from the West End” event starting at 6:30 exploring the West End’s colourful history.

Get on up: Despite the lack of snow, the Grouse Grind remains closed but exercise enthusiasts looking to get their heart rates up can head on over to 147-metre-tall Harbour Centre today for Urban Grind between 4:30 and 6 p.m. The $5 admission includes a post-climb beer and a food court voucher.
