Vancouver Market dusts off vintage finds at WISE Hall

And four other reasons Vancouver is awesome this week

The Vancouver Market

Calling all vintage shoppers: The Vancouver Market is holding their inaugural event this weekend at WISE Hall. They’ll have 35-plus vendors selling and showing off their vintage clothing, musical instruments, homemade goods, knick knacks, jewelry, housewares and more. Food trucks will be there to fuel your shopping, and since it’s St. Patrick’s Day, you might even spot a leprechaun.

When: March 17, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You’ll find many of your favourites participating, from Whistler to White Rock, including spots like Forage, Ask For Luigi, Bells and Whistles, Nook, Wildebeest, Mary’s On Davie, Pizzeria Farina, Burgoo, Hy’s, Maenam and many more.

#Breakthecycle spin classes

Two special edition spin classes happening this weekend at Ride Cycle in Yaletown aim to keep you fit while supporting the Downtown Eastside community. Plus there are some perks for spinners taking part in the special classes. Tickets are available online, and you can add donations onsite.

Free Solo at the Rio Theatre

The Rio screens the gravity-defying, Oscar-winning doc Free Solo.

Catch a screening of this awe-inspiring Oscar-winning documentary film. From filmmaker E. Chai Vasarhelyi and world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin comes Free Solo, a stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of the free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: climbing the face of the world's most famous rock... the 3,000-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park... without a rope. Gulp!

When: March 15, 3:45 p.m. and March 17, 3:30 p.m. (additional screenings March 22-23)

Where: The Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway

Macaron Day 2019

Let’s celebrate Macaron Day! On March 20, bakeries around the world will offer special deals on macarons, often with a charitable component. The treat may hail from France, but we have many macaron masters right here in Vancouver who turn out some absolute gems. To mark the day, patisseries offer special pricing on macarons, often with some or all of the profits going to support a charitable cause. You’ll find such deals at places like Thierry, Soirette, Ladurée, TWG Tea and Bon Macaron.
