The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents another instalment of its hugely popular Star Wars concert series this summer.

Oscar-winning composer John Williams’ musical score will be performed live while The Empire Strikes Back is screened.

As one of the most iconic sagas of all time, the films have influenced cinema as well as popular culture. Not only is the storyline incredible, but the characters are captivating. And, of course, it has the most awe-inspiring musical score.

John Williams scored all of the films in the saga, which commenced with 1977’s Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope). Williams went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Score for the film, as well as receive a multitude of nominations. In 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams’ score to 1977’s Star Wars as the greatest American film score of all time.

Williams is also the Academy’s most nominated living person; Walt Disney is the most nominated of all time, and Williams is the second.

Produced by Disney Concerts , the 90 minute performance will accompany the film on three dates in July.

Tickets are now on sale.
