Make sure to plan for traffic delays if you’re heading to the airport on Thursday.

While YVR will be working with the RCMP and traffic management personnel, the airport says it’s expecting heaving congestion in the area due to the annual Boxing Day Sale at McArthurGlen.

Boxing Day is also during YVR’s peak travel period, which falls between Dec. 20 to Jan. 6 and sees up to 90,000 people pass through the airport every day.

According to the airport, travellers who are driving to YVR should leave extra time, monitor traffic reports and have a parking plan.

Parking can be pre-booked at yvr.ca/parking. Commuters using the Value Long Term lot, next to Templeton Station, could face longer delays as the area is near to McArthurGlen.

Meanwhile, the airport is advising people who work on Sea Island, as well as Boxing Day shoppers, to take the Canada Line, if possible.
