North Vancouver RCMP are on the lookout for thieves with a taste for high-end jewelry, sunglasses – and McDonald’s hamburgers.

Thieves helped themselves Wednesday evening to some prized possessions that were inside a grey 2018 Audi parked outside the owner’s home in the 3000 block of Institute Road in Lynn Valley – including a platinum gold wedding ring worth about $1,250, a $1,000 Movado watch, Ray-Ban sunglasses worth $300, and a wallet containing $200 cash as well as credit and debit cards.

There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP.

The credit and debit cards were later used at the McDonald’s in Lynn Valley to buy about $40 worth of food, said De Jong.

RCMP have reviewed surveillance video from the restaurant and are hoping to identify the people in the video who may be connected to use of the credit card.

De Jong said police continue to remind the public not to leave any valuables inside vehicles.
