Dear Editor,

Re: “Moratorium on farm houses,” News, March 29.

City council has voted 8-1 to support a much-needed moratorium on houses on protected farmland.

The one dissenting no vote came from Coun. Alexa Loo, whom I believe is sadly out of step with the majority of concerned Richmond residents and her fellow councillors.

Her crass comment, “We’re not a communist country,” probably offended other members, especially Coun. Harold Steves.

Loo shows an elitist attitude. The fact she is a first-term councillor does not afford her any slack as it is not the first time she has distanced herself from the majority’s concerns.

Her lack of understanding about the negative impacts of the jet fuel line proposal and removal of the Massey Tunnel and a $3.5 billion bridge replacement project should worry all voters in Richmond.

Time to say no thanks and not renew her position on council come next election.

I am sure she will land on het feet doing something else — probably with the BC Liberals.
