  • Meet Chris.

    By Vitamin Daily

You may recognize Chris Weber from Vancouver's fashion circuit; the 23 year old, German-born hair stylist has become known for his sartorial firepower, making him a favourite of local street-style bloggers (and one of our top Vancouver fashion stars, too). You've probably seen his work as well - even if you didn't realize it at the time. Weber's impeccable styling and colour-designs ensure his clients stand out (in the best way). Working out of Barberella Salon, Weber's the indispensable name in every local it-girl's little black book; the guy who can make you look totally different, bold, traffic-stopping and still completely you. Here, we look through Weber's gorgeous repertoire and get his take on nailing standout hairstyles.

  • When did you realize styling was your calling?

    By Vitamin Daily

I was always really interested in styling & fashion. I started my stylist training at age 16 in Frankfurt, but before that, I was always playing around with my friends's hair, and as a kid I liked to watch makeover shows.

  • Where do you look for hair inspiration?

    By Vitamin Daily

I like to get inspired on platforms like Instagram, Tumblr or Pinterest (follow Chris on Pinterest here). It's super inspiring to follow really creative artists & stylist from all over the world. I love seeing trends evolve.

  • Who's your typical client?

    By Vitamin Daily

I have a pretty mixed clientele. Most of my clients are fashion forward and work in creative fields. I have a lot of clients who work in the fashion industry, and a lot of them I would say are trendsetters.

  • So, how to you get that cool-girl grey shade?

    By Vitamin Daily

In this case, my client had naturally black hair and wanted to go grey. To get it right, we needed more than one session of bleaching her hair; I'd recommend booking at least 3 bleach sessions (with a break of about two weeks in between) to perfect the shade, and afterwards semi-regular visits for a toner and refresher, just as upkeep.

  • What about a brighter silver-grey?

    By Vitamin Daily

In this case, my client came in with pre-lightened hair, and we just went in and touched up her roots with some babylights (really soft highlights) to brighten it up. I would recommend lightening your hair slowly; step by step over the course of several weeks, and to use purple shampoos (Blond Angel wash by Kevin Murphy is great) in between lightening sessions. For this kind of bright metallic silver, it's really important to not wait to long between hair services to keep the hair fresh and not let it fade to any brassy tones.

  • What tends to bring clients to you?

    By Vitamin Daily

Most clients come to see me because they want to have a big change, a colour transformation or a whole new look. I am happy that all my clients trust me and let me play around with their hair; it's a big responsibility. Most people leave with pretty colourful hair!

  • What's maintenance like for pink and lilac tones?

    By Vitamin Daily

Having lilac, pink or purple hair is a lot of upkeep. For example my client fashion blogger Alanna Durkovich is coming in to re-tone her hair every couple weeks. In the between time she is mixing some Manic Panic colours in her conditioner to refresh it herself.

  • What should we keep in my regarding angular cuts?

    By Vitamin Daily

I think its important that an angular cut suits your personal style, but they're very customizable - there's a way to match this look to every person! You just need to consider faceshape, does it match the haircut? As well, does the client wear glasses, and how will that affect the look day-to-day? I like to play around with bangs and different lengths as well.

  • Are you still feeling ombre hair, and why?

    By Vitamin Daily

Yes! There are so many things I love about the ombre look. I love that there are so many different ways to do it, you can do a beautiful fade from your natural colour to the total opposite colour, you can have a few pieces framing your face or do it more as the extreme version "dip dye". I love that it looks good on almost everyone, if your hair is naturally super dark  or if your a blond. There are so many ways to be creative with the look, and it's the most low-maintenance look.

  • Let's talk cool hair + an office dress code.

    By Vitamin Daily

It's important that a hairstyle suits your hair type and texture, and your personality. If a colour is done right, you can make it work for an office dress code, or any situation. Having a stylist who understands your life and objectives is the most important, then you can concoct your perfect power-look together.

  • What products do you recommend for bleached hair?

    By Vitamin Daily

It's really important that you talk to your stylist about products before you start your hair journey. A good shampoo, conditioner and a hair mask are musts. I am in love with the organic Italian product line Davines & with Kevin Murphy.
