Ketchup chips, instant noodle soup, peanut butter cups, or cold pop is what you tend to find lurking inside vending machines. But what about containers of fresh salad?

Toss your preconceived notion of what vending machine eats can be thanks to this new venture that’s dispensing the goods in North Vancouver.

The vending machine is the work of Larry’s Market, a specialty vegetarian grocery store that is set to open later this spring at Lonsdale Quay. In the meanwhile, owner Ryan Dennis is giving customers a taste of his local and organic goods via the vending machine.

We are only WEEKS away from launching our brand new salad vending machine in the Quay in Lonsdale!⁣ ⁣ We've been traveling the world to check out food innovation and Vancouver is seriously lacking when it comes to vending machines (just visit Japan and you'll know what we're talking about).⁣ ⁣ If you're vegan or vegetarian, we feel your pain of being hungry on the go and having to decide between roasted nuts or salted chips as a vending machine snack.⁣ ⁣ Well, we say NO MORE! You can get fresh salads, a selection of dressings snacks, and even kombucha to scarf down immediately or pack for that 3pm conference call to discuss 'synergy'.⁣ ⁣ Anyone else pumped for a vending machine revolution here in Vancity?!?⁣ ⁣ #vegansalads #salads #makefriendswithsalad #northvancouver #lonsdalequay #salad #vegetarianfood #larrysmarket #northvaneats #vancityeats #vancity #yvr #vancouverisawesome #vancouverbc

The machine sells jarred salads, such as Chickpea Lentil with tomato and romaine lettuce or Arugula and Carrot with cashews. In addition to salads and dressing, Larry’s Market Express stocks healthy snacks and kombucha.

“If you’re vegan or vegetarian, we feel your pain of being hungry on the go and having to decide between roasted nuts or salted chips as a vending machine snack,” says Larry’s Market on social media.

The vending machine, hailed as ‘futuristic’ in press materials, is called Larry’s Market Express, and is now up and running at Lonsdale Quay, with the company expecting a few more machines to pop up around Vancouver soon.
